Happy Wednesday, everyone! The board periodically receives complaints about a couple of issues related to pets, so I thought I’d take a quick minute to address them as a friendly reminder.
Please be sure to pick up your dog’s waste. Residents will occasionally report finding poop on the common area where dogs are frequently walked. Not only can this cause illness and spread parasites to other dogs, we live just up the hill from the Huntley Meadows wetlands. Dog poop can cause contamination issues within these sensitive areas. Be a responsible pet parent and scoop the poop!
One of the more common complaints, however, is excessive barking. Dogs being allowed to bark endlessly can be a real disturbance to the lives of residents. This apparently is a common problem throughout Fairfax County because the Board of Supervisors implemented an amendment to the County noise ordinance that became effective in February of 2016. This amendment outlines some fairly specific restrictions on quiet hours and acceptable durations of barking and other pet noise. Trying to minimize dog barking isn’t just complying with County ordinance. It’s the neighborly thing to do too.
Give all your pups a hug and a treat from me and have a great rest of the week!
p.s. If you haven’t already done so, please help the board help you and send in your ratification consent form. We still need 24 more owners to consent to amending our governing documents.
